Shondelle James
Counsellor & Clinical Supervisor · BACP · she/her
Shondelle is a qualified person-centred counsellor and registered member of the BACP, with over eight years of experience working with adults, couples, young people and children aged five and over. She also provides clinical supervision for counsellors and professionals working with adults, children and couples.
She recognises that life can become emotionally overwhelming, isolating or hard to process alone. She offers counselling as a space to process experiences safely, gain clarity and perspective, deepen your self-understanding, reconnect with yourself, and work collaboratively towards your goals. Her style is warm, empathic, honest and accepting, and she works at a pace that suits you, with regular reviews and an open invitation for your feedback. As she puts it, given the right conditions, you can reach your full potential and become your true self.
Shondelle's work is rooted in trauma-informed and relational practice. She works within an anti-oppressive framework and offers inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming, disability-affirming, sex-positive and LGBTQIA+ affirming support, intentionally creating a space for clients who may previously have felt excluded, pathologised or misunderstood in traditional therapy. Her specialist interests include cultural issues, LGBTQIA+ support and sexual violence. She works within the BACP's Ethical Framework with regular professional supervision.
