Welcome...

Welcome, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Denise and I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and trainer.

How I work...

I am Person Centred, which means that I work with every individual in their own unique way, tailoring therapy to who you are and how you like to work. The difference between Person-Centred and other modalities are that some can be solution focused and instructive. Being Person-Centred means that I believe that each person is the specialist on themselves and no one else knows you as well you do. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental, empathic space so we can explore your concerns in a collaborative and supportive way and build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust.

Whilst counselling is traditionally a talking therapy, I am also able to work in a creatively way to explore any concerns that aren’t always easy to express through talking. I am able to draw on other modalities and therapeutic approaches if required such as Transactional Analysis, The Rewind Technique and Mindfulness to ensure that therapeutic process meets your needs.

My qualifications

  • Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Disorders – Practitioner course – Working with Dissociative Disorders in Clinical Practice

  • Working introduction to Transactional Analysis

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

  • International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy – Practitioners certificate

  • CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

  • CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

  • OCN Level 3 Certificate Supporting Survivors of Rape and Sexual Violence

Specialism

Sexual abuse, rape, trauma and Dissociative Identity Disorder

I began my training working for within a local rape crisis and sexual abuse charity, initially volunteering, but I now work as a paid counsellor. I have had experience of working with a variety of clients from the age of 11 upwards. I have a passion for working with trauma and personality disorders and I enjoy undertaking training to ensure that my skillset remains fresh and that I offer you the best experience possible.

I have also worked with the following concerns; depression and anxiety, bereavement, abortion, addiction and substance misuse, relationships concerns, self-harm, shame, body dysmorphia, stress, low self-esteem, bi-polar, work related stress and student counsellors.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or would like any further information.
